SOE Alumni Association

The SOE Alumni Association supports SOE’s mission of effectively preparing educators and other education personnel for professional performance in diverse cultural contexts. It serves as a connection for which SOE alumni can give back to their alma mater by sharing their talents, resources, etc. in different SOE events. It further serves as a source for developing alumni pride, spirit, and life-long commitments to the School of Education.

SOE Alumni's Griffin Named Teacher of the Year Finalist

Every year, teachers are nominated by parents, students, fellow teachers, or administrators for Teacher of the Year. GDOE Deputy Superintendent Erika Cruz says that this year, they received 67 nominations and 21 candidates who accepted the nominations. After a panel of judges conducted interviews and evaluated the teachers, the list is now down to six Teacher of the Year semi-finalists, two from each grade level. The semi-finalists are Graziella Griffin from GW High, Leonora Balajadia from Okkodo High, Gracelle Canar from UPI Elementary, Dr. Rochelle Diaz from Maria Ulloa Elementary, Richard Velasco from FBLG Middle and Patricia Abub also from FBLG Middle.
