SOE Alumni Association

The SOE Alumni Association supports SOE’s mission of effectively preparing educators and other education personnel for professional performance in diverse cultural contexts. It serves as a connection for which SOE alumni can give back to their alma mater by sharing their talents, resources, etc. in different SOE events. It further serves as a source for developing alumni pride, spirit, and life-long commitments to the School of Education.

Guam IRA and SOE Alumni Association Donate to the 69th Operation Christmas Drop

Through the efforts and partnership of the Guam Council of the International Reading Association and the University of Guam SOE Alumni Association, over 2,000 books were collected and donated to this year’s Operation Christmas Drop.  Southern High School, JM Guerrero Elementary School, and St. Francis Catholic School, were the schools designated to drop off books that were donated, sorted, and packed.  Students, faculty, staff, and the Guam community, donated paperback and hardcover books, teacher resources, school supplies, and even encyclopedias, for our island neighbors.  Si Yu'os Ma'ase' yan Felis Pasgua!

The UOG Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony held November 5, 2020 via Zoom was memorable! Amanda Shelton.  JEJ Vinson, a finalist on NBC's "The Voice" and our very own UOG Latte Tones sang for the special event.  The late Dr. Suzanne Bells was also remembered during the ceremony.

The Last Mile Scholarship was further announced during the event.  It launched in October to coincide with the reunion.  It is a competitive scholarship awarded to students who are within 30 credits of completing their first bachelor's degree and in need of financial assistance.  More than $14,000 were raised through the support of corporate sponsors and UOG alumni.
